new ideas...new melodies

its about time i made a note or a chronicle of the new compositions that i have hit upon by accident or design. it has been a very difficult but fascinating one year. just see the last time i made an entry on this blog!

 a lot has gone into my musical mind and a lot has affected my poetic heart- some very damaging too. but the songs that have burst forth are not necessarily laments and i am really happy for that. 

first of all i think i ought to mention what all i learnt with Madhuri aunty in Pune last year-

she taught me khyals in raga- Vibhas, Nayaki Kanada, Bhoopal Todi, Bhatiyar, Purvi, Megh...that is as far the mind can recall.

But several beautiful khyals came out of my own mind too- in Bhairav, Bhatiyar, Todi and Madhmad Sarang. I am utterly grateful to god/dog for the inspiration. i think i could write them down here in subsequent entries. In this foto, i was interestingly enough, working on Nayaki Kanada for a few days now. Not an easy descent but a very beautiful melody indeed.
